Last updated: July 8, 2026

1. Introduction

Digifile ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information in compliance with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

2. Information We Collect

When you create a digital business card, we collect:

Personal information: Name, business name, job title, phone number, email address, physical address
Content: Bio, services offered, social media links, logo/profile images
Payment information: Processed securely via PayFast (we do not store credit card details)
Usage data: IP address, browser type, page views, clicks, referrer URLs (for analytics)

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and host your digital business card and profile page
• Generate your downloadable card image and QR code
• Process payments and issue receipts
• Improve our service through analytics (aggregated, non-personal data)
• Send service updates or important notices (we do not send marketing emails unless you opt in)

4. Information Sharing

Your profile information is publicly accessible via your unique profile URL — this is the core functionality of the service. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties, except:

PayFast: To process payments securely
Cloud hosting providers: To store and deliver your profile (AWS, DigitalOcean)
AI services: To enhance your bio (OpenAI API) — data is not stored by third parties
Legal obligations: If required by law or to protect our rights

5. Data Retention

Your profile and associated data are retained indefinitely to provide the "live forever" service. You may request deletion of your profile at any time by contacting us at support@whatshubb.co.za. Payment records are retained for 7 years as required by law.

6. Your Rights (POPIA Compliance)

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

• Access your personal information
• Correct inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
• Object to processing or withdraw consent
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@whatshubb.co.za.

7. Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption (HTTPS), secure servers, and access controls. However, no system is 100% secure — please safeguard your account credentials.

8. Cookies and Tracking

We use minimal cookies and tracking for analytics purposes (page views, referrers). We do not use advertising cookies or track you across other websites.

9. Children's Privacy

Digifile is intended for business use. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under 18 years of age.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance.
